The first car rally I ever took part in was the Plymouth - Banjul Challenge, a 4200 mile drive from the UK to Gambia in a car costing less than £100. I took part in this Beetle, a bargain at £99, because it hadn't run in 15 years! If you'd like to hear more about this, or any of my other motoring adventures, then join me online or in person at Brooklands Motor Museum on 17th March for an evening of petrolhead adventures. Tickets also available for non-members.

  • Was it your first Beetle too?

    • It was yes. Not that I owned it for long, all cars were auctioned for charity at the end of the rally in Banjul.
