The Ford Mustang Mach-E virtually joins the American police

Is it up to the task of replacing the Ford Explorer?

Ford unveiled last week the highly anticipated Mustang Mach-E electric SUV. Shortly after the revelation, the illustrators immediately got to work and produced multiple variants of the vehicle. After the pickup truck, the artist Aksyonov Nikita offers us his interpretation of the Mustang Mach-E for the American police.

The American police are very attached to the Ford Explorer and the oval brand is already preparing the future police cars based precisely on the latest Explorer. But the Mustang Mach-E seems particularly suited for the task with its muscular silhouette and generous front bull bar, ideal for stopping chases.

The must-see red and blue flashing lights are located on the roof and grille. They are accompanied by projectors placed on the A-pillars for night pursuits. The wheels, on the other hand, are fitted with black rims with the simplistic design characteristic of American police cars.

Under the hood are two powerful electric motors producing 459 hp and 830 Nm of torque in the sporty GT version. The vehicle does 0 to 62 mph in 3.5 s, more than enough to catch most fugitives. The latter will then have little chance of escaping. They will have to hope that the battery will be completely drained after 300 mi.

Unfortunately, it is very likely that this Mustang Mach-E Police Interceptor will remain virtual since, as mentioned above, Ford is already providing new vehicles to the police.

  • As long as the front grill is blocked and Mustang badge removed, I'm fine with it.

  • I have my doubts. Law enforcement vehicles are beefed up to handle a very demanding role. They have heavy duty alternators to meet their electrical needs (extra lights, radios, computers, radar, etc). They’re geared for quick acceleration to chase down perpetrators or for responding to emergencies (they need to be able to do this repeatedly and frequently). They also carry around a fair amount of equipment in their trunks (added weight). They need to be ready on a moment’s notice. They can’t be taken out of service for charging during a shift on duty.
