It's no secret that today's motorists often, if not systematically, use their smartphones as GPS devices, even if their vehicle has a built-in navigation system. These application-based systems are very efficient and the arrival of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto have only amplified the phenomenon.

However, Ford may have found a solution to encourage drivers to return to their vehicle's built-in GPS. The arrival of Garmin in the next-generation SYNC infotainment system of the American brand may change that. And it's the Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV that will be the first to benefit from this technology.

Garmin is one of the most reliable satellite navigation companies in the world. Its expertise should convince many owners to abandon Google Maps and Waze. Indeed, the new system includes very useful features such as cloud-based traffic information, which further improves its efficiency.

Owners of electric vehicles will optimize their route with the display of available recharging stations in real time as well as the necessary stops for recharging, as on Teslas. Ford's SYNC 4 infotainment system promises to be faster and easier to use, including improved voice recognition.
