This is not just a mere demo version though; it will be fully playable from 10am (BST) on 9th October through to 2pm on 12th October. And don’t think for a minute that you’ll lose all of your progress, as it can all be carried over to the full game, up to a credit limit of $1million which can be transferred on launch day to the full game.

According to the PlayStation Blog, players from hardcore veterans of the franchise to first-timers will be able to “drive and tune on your own terms” with a new matchmaking system automatically skill-matching players of similar ability against each other.

Players will be able to try the full online-hardcore Sport mode, alongside the Campaign and Arcade modes alongside the titles new features the Scapes Photography mode and Custom Livery Editor.

Sport mode will allow players to improve their driving skills across various missions and circuit challenges before being pitched against other players in online races.

Arcade mode features three circuits including a high-speed oval titles ‘Northern Isle, a more technical track ‘Dragon Trail’ and a Colorado dirt stage for rally themed racing. Arcade even comes with a split screen racing mode meaning you can actually play against your friends in person as well as online.

The final Campaign mode features circuit experiences, missions and challenges which earn you credits, experience points and vehicle unlocks which can be carried over for use in the full game.

Gran Turismo Sport can be pre-download from the PlayStation Store on 7 October at 10am BST. The full game will be released on 17 October in North America and 18 October in Europe.
