The 'Green Hell' beckons for the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup
The 25-kilometre 24-hour variant of the Nürburgring welcomes around 40 top sim racers today
The Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup heads for the “Green Hell” of the Nürburgring today (Saturday).
Fans can watch a live stream of all the action, with the 40 or so sim racers set to do battle in their virtual Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars from 16:45-17:15 (CEST).
The 24-hour variant of the historic racetrack – a 25-kilometre-long combination of the Grand Prix circuit and the Nordschleife – will be used for the 30 minute race, making it one of the most demanding events of the season.
With only two races left after today, the focus is on the fight for the crown, with Sebastian Job from the Red Bull Racing Esports squad currently holding the best cards to claim the driver’s title. So far this season the Brit sim star has notched up five virtual wins, including two double victories. His lead over Australia’s Joshua Rogers (VRS Coanda Simsport) is now 45 points. Alejandro Sánchez (MSI eSports) from Spain, sits behind Rogers, with 389 points while Germany’s Redline driver Maximilian Benecke follows with 340 points.
While free practice gets underway at 15:45, there will be a 15-minute spring race before the main event. Fans can watch everything live on Porsche’s Twitch and YouTube channels, where the races are streamed via iRacing.
