This year the intercontinental GT Challenge organized by the SRO Motorsports Group has reached its sixth edition and initially included five races. Due to the global pandemic, the Asian stops were canceled and the only ones left on the program were the 24 Hours of Spa, the 8 Hours of Indianapolis and the 9 Hours of Kyalami.

The first two races took place regularly, but due to the advent of the new Omicron variant of the Covid-19 the final ranking on the South African circuit was in danger of being compromised. As there is no time to reschedule it by the end of the current year, the teams and manufacturers involved in the championship have decided to postpone the race to February to ensure it runs smoothly.

Currently, the Italian Iron Lynx Motorsport Lab team has the best chance of winning the championship, having conquered the 24 Hours of Spa and fourth place in the 8 Hours of Indianapols. It could be the umpteenth victory of the Ferrari 488 GT3, which this year has been confirmed as one of the best racing cars built by the legendary company from Maranello.
