Now I was watching the penultimate episode of the Grand Tour Season 2 the other night. When James May turned up at a racetrack in a Range Rover Velar, a heated discussion broke out about where the Velar sat in the lineup. May claimed it sat between the Evoque and the Range Rover Sport, whereas Clarkson thought it sat to one side with the Discovery or something.
To be completely honest, the conversation was so long and convoluted I could barely follow it. Broadly speaking it sounded like the Land Rover lineup was hideously complicated and choosing which model you wanted to go for, was more or less like being back at square one.
So, you've decided you're getting a Land Rover. Now you need to decide what flavour of Land Rover you want and this might NOT be an easy task!
Well, I looked at the Land Rover website, did a bit of digging and came to my own conclusion. In the spirit of improving my 'piece to camera' skills I decided to adlib the results of my analysis.
The Land Rover lineup explained. It's really quite simple.
Really, I honestly think that's it. You might want to give a small nod to off-road performance or tweak the options list to make it more suitable for on or off-road duty. But ultimately, that's what the Land Rover lineup is about.
While you're here, read my Amphibious Car Group test. To be fair, it's quite a long one, but worth it. So go get yourself a coffee and a packet of hob nobs before you start it!
