Ferrari is reportedly set to revive the "GTO" badge for its hardcore send-off of its 488 mid-engine supercar. Set to be unveiled in 2018, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS fighter will be stripped of interior creature comforts, like carpets and sound deadening. Expect race car-inspired exterior changes as well such as thinner glass, carbon-ceramic brakes, lightweight wheels, and plenty of downforce-generating tweaks in the bodywork. Of course, a special edition 488 would have improved performance, with the 488 GTB’s 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 stretched to produce a rumoured 521kw and 760nm, and thanks to its extensive diet should yield a 0-100kph time of 2.7 seconds and 0-200kph in 7.5 seconds. Interestingly enough, the GTO badge has only been used by Ferrari three times: first on the 250 GTO and 288 GTO – which were both race cars – then on the far more modern 599 GTO. #StayTuned #TunedAutomotive #SomeShitAboutCars
