When I was a kid, I don't ever recall Lego kits being this detailed and awesome. Part of it could simply be due to the fact that Lego wasn't making these ultra realistic kits yet, and another part could just be the fact that my parents couldn't afford these uber kits.
Either way, Lego has done it again, this time with a Technic kit of the Mack Anthem semi-truck. It's BIG and expensive, but that's expected for something with this much detail. Even the interior is fully detailed.
Lifting the hood reveals a Lego Mack diesel inline six. The engine is so detailed that when the truck moves, you can actually see the little pistons pumping. The trailer sits on the back of the truck via a hitch, and can be removed through an elaborate lift system. It uses two large arms that drop down to provide stability to the trailer and truck, and large arms then lift up the container with chains.
Once you're playing with the semi, you can convert the kit into a Mack LR garbage truck. The kit is two-in-one! The garbage truck has a rear hatch that opens, a forward trash door, and a fully functional lifting fork. All you need to provide is some tiny trash.
The kit will run you $179.99, and if you want the semi and garbage truck at the same time, you'll need to buy two kits.
