Lucid intends to make a remarkable entry into the automobile world. To stand out from the start, nothing better than announcing a world record. This is what the Lucid Air has done by officially being the fastest sedan in the world on the quarter mile (400 m). The Californian brand has published a video showing the achievement.

On August 17, a camouflaged example of the electric limousine made its way to the Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, California. The Lucid Air set an incredible time and covered the quarter mile in less than ten seconds! With a time of 9.9 seconds, the limousine beat all its competitors.

Lucid didn't hesitate to tackle Tesla by firstly opposing the Lucid Air to the Tesla Model S Performance. The Lucid finished first and the same happened when the second duel pitted it against the Porsche Taycan Turbo S. The two rivals in fact knocked down the quarter mile in about 10.4 seconds.

An excellent figure that the Lucid thus improves by half a second. This places it among exceptional cars such as the McLaren P1, Porsche 918 Spyder and Bugatti Chiron! No surprise when you know that the Lucid Air develops 1080 hp thanks to two electric motors.

    Competition is great.

    • How salty. It's not even meant to be a drag car.

    • With those times? Yes, meant to be a drag car.

And while it has several interesting pieces of tech, after the bi-directional charging, the large battery is the most interesting to me as it indicates that the constraints on the cell market...
