The Lucid Air would have beaten the lap record at Laguna Seca
A few seconds less than the best time
Despite the recent launch of the Lucid Air, the development of the electric limousine does not seem to be over yet. Youtuber The Kilowatts has seen a new prototype of the Lucid Air doing full speed laps on the famous Laguna Seca circuit. The brand is obviously trying to break the lap record.
According to the youtuber, the model in question would be the prototype of the Lucid Air Dream Edition, which is none other than the most powerful and most expensive version of the Lucid Air. In this configuration, the vehicle has three electric motors developing the colossal power of 1095 PS!
While the car was running at maximum speed, the youtuber managed to estimate a lap time. According to him, the Lucid Air simply beat the lap record with a time of 1 minute and 33 seconds. This would be more than three seconds less than the current record held by a...prototype of the Tesla Model S Plaid.
The war seems to have started between Tesla and Lucid. The Palo Alto brand is not likely to let itself fall behind and further refine its Model S Plaid before its next commercialisation. The car was thus seen in Germany on the Nürburgring, an ideal circuit for testing the cars' handling at its best.
