The McLaren 765LT Spider is a topless track weapon
It's finally here and it's perfect for the summer
The McLaren 765LT was made as a more hardcore version of the 720S, so when the British brand decides to make a convertible version of it, the world stops in its tracks and stares in bewildered awe.
This spider version of the 765LT is limited to just 765 units and also happens to be the brand's most powerful convertible ever. Its one-piece carbon fibre hardtop roof can be raised and lowered in 11 seconds – making it quicker than the 675LT Spider – and can operate at speeds up to 31 mph.
McLaren even says it offers more headroom than the Coupe, even with the roof up. The best feature of the 765LT Spider is its rear window which can lower so the driver can listen to the gorgeous soundtrack coming from its twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 that produces 755 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque.
From this engine, McLaren says the 765LT Spider will be able to launch itself from 0-60 mph in 2.7 seconds, despite it weighing 108 pounds more than the standard 765LT. But then again, it also comes with Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres and a bunch of weight-saving technology – which probably helps.
The all-new McLaren 765LT is available to order now starting at £278,000 ($388,000).
