- My personal Mclaren P1

"The Mclaren P1 was built to deliver on a seemingly impossible list of targets"

And it manage to achieve every one

The Mclaren P1 was one of the most favored members of the holy trinity. Now it is my least favorite of the group. I prefer the Porsche 918 and the Laferrari, but of course there will always be something to be said for the P1. It is one of the most thrilling hyper-cars to drive and its hybrid technology boosts its performance. The P1 like the 918 and Laferrari, was ahead of its time. Kind of like the F1 only this creation was strictly made by Mclaren themselves.

The P1 uses a 3.8 L Twin-turbocharged, flat-plane crankshaft V-8 mated to a 7-Speed dual clutch. The engine produces 727 horsepower and 531 lb ft of torque and with the hybrid system it works to together to make 903 horsepower and 664 lb ft of torque, which is incredible. It could do 0-60 mph in just 2.8 seconds and could get up to 217 mph.

As for the model, it is built by Hot Wheels and is a premium casting. This means it is all metal and even has rubber tires. This variation in particular is painted orange with wild, black tiger graphics as I call it. It may be strange, but I really like the design of the graphics and they pair well with the wild nature of the P1. The headlights are painted white and are shaped like the Mclaren logo. The logo is painted in red and rests on the snout of this beast.

The wing is raised and is ready to dominate the track and fight against the 918 and the Laferrari. The aggressive rear diffuser adds to the character of the car and the clear roof scoop completes the look. This P1 is ready to scare the life out of anyone who can handle it.

    • The 918 and the Laferrari have always been closer in my heart. The 918 because as a concept it blew everyone’s minds and Porsche actually came through with it. I also love how it is naturally aspirated. The Laferrari I have seen in person and I...

    • I totally get that. And honestly the P1 is my least favorite of the three too, for mostly the same reasons. The 918 Spyder is the best!

  • I already wondered why the tiger was at your garage again, until I read why.

  • Solid review. I love the photo of it with the tiger, I wouldn’t have thought of that!

    • Thanks Mason. I got the tiger at hobby store for like 50 cents actually! Thought I went well with the nature of the P1
