The Mega Track Was a Ridiculous Off-Road Supercar

The Aixam was quite possibly the quirkiest supercar in the world!

Ah, the Mega Track. Yes, company name Mega, model name Track. It's amazing. Mega was a branch of the company Aixam, and soon enough, they realized that they need to add a supercar in their lineup. A ridiculously sized, off-road capable supercar at that.

Soon, in 1992 the Mega Track was born. The Mega Track was absolutely gargantuan. Like, insanely huge. It was less than an inch of 200 inches long. For scale, you can go out and buy a brand new Cadillac Escalade is about 211 inches long. This thing was MASSIVE by any stretch of the imagination. Not only was the Mega Track long, it was extremely tall. Photos exist of this monster towering over SUVs in Monaco. And the width, well it was 86.6 inches wide, which is wider than the aforementioned 2021 Escalade. The weight was over 5,000 lbs, which is over 500 lbs more than a Bugatti Chiron.

Moving onto the powertrain. This absolute beast had a Mercedes-sourced V12 making over 400 horsepower paired with a 4 speed automatic, and a top speed limited to 155 miles per hour. The Mega Track could raise its suspension 13 inches to get some nice off-road capability, and all wheel drive helped with its off-road prowess.

The Mega Track was also ridiculously expensive, at 2 million Francs in 1992 money. That would be an absolutely insane amount of money today, although I was not able to find an accurate conversion for Francs to USD in 1992.

All in all, the Mega Track was... incredibly insane. That's really the only way I can think of to describe this absolute machine.

  • Ah one of my favourite supercars, in fact the only "supercar" I would really want. FYI 2 million french francs are around 264,000 pounds sterling today, rough calculation has it at £500k
