The Mercedes-AMG E63 S faces the AMG GT 63 S 4-Door Coupé in a drag race
The technical sisters face each other
When you are looking for a German sports car, you are clearly overwhelmed by the choice. Mercedes, BMW and Audi offer a myriad of versions that will satisfy even the most demanding customer. The combinations of bodywork and engines seem endless.
At Mercedes, it is the AMG 63 models that serve as the top of the line on mid-size cars. So it's not surprising that the Mercedes-AMG 63s share the same engines. This is the case, for example, with the Mercedes-AMG E63 S and AMG GT 63 S 4-Door Coupé, which have a 4.0-litre V8.
The AMG E63 S first of all offers a power output of 612 hp and a torque of 850 Nm. This cavalry is sent to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission. The car weighs 1,940 kg and has a particularly practical station wagon body that provides a large load capacity.
On the other hand, the AMG GT 63 S 4-Door Coupé has a much more dynamic styling. Under the hood, a 4.0-liter V8 is also used, but this time it develops 639 hp and 900 Nm of torque. Four-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic transmission are obviously standard. The car weighs 2120 kg on the scale.
