The Mercedes-AMG GT73 will be the most powerful AMG car ever built
It will also be the first Plug-in Hybrid AMG
Mercedes-AMG is currently preparing a real rocket that will become the flagship of its range in the years to come. It's the AMG GT 4-Door Coupé that will play this role thanks to a new overpowered version that's even more powerful than the stunning 63 S. This future sports car will probably be powered by a plug-in hybrid engine, which will be a first for AMG.
The AMG GT 4-Door Coupé range comprises four models: the basic 43 and 53 AMG versions with respectively 367 and 435 hp from an inline-six, the 63 AMG version with 585 hp and the 63 S variant with 639 hp. The car competes with many high-performance 4-door coupes such as the Porsche Panamera Turbo.
Mercedes' sports branch recently published a video showing a new variant of the AMG GT 4-Door Coupé that is still in camouflage. Several models from the AMG family can be seen throughout the video as well as the names of the people working for AMG. However, the most interesting part of the video is at the end of the sequence.
There's an AMG GT 4-Door Coupé accelerating quietly. It's therefore assumed that this model will use a plug-in hybrid powertrain that will deliver up to 800 hp, which is still unprecedented for AMG. This model could be called the AMG GT73 4-Door Coupé and will make its debut at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show.
