the MG Metro cup is cheapest way to happiness

Who wants to start a team with me?

Are you falling a bit short of the multi-million pounds it takes to get anywhere near owning even an utterly shite Formula 1 team? Well, so am I, and I don't think we should be punished for not having daddy's trust fund to enjoy the magic of our own racing team.

I think I've found the solution...

The MG Metro Cup has all of the thrills of Formula 1, so would say more, without any of the elitist bullshit that comes along with it.

You can register your team for just £5,100.

The car itself can be bought, race ready, for around £2,500. If you add the costs of getting to the locations, a few parts and other normal racing preparations, you are looking at competing in a 10 round championship for around £10,000.

The action in the MG Metro Cup is hard to beat. The noise from the engine is more intoxicating than Formula 1, and there is more wheel to wheel racing too.

You do lose the sponsors of Marlboro, Martini and Petronas, but they are replaced with Steve's Guttering, Bob's Toolbox and Tommy's Trout-Farm.

If you aren't convinced by the standard, take a look at the video below and tell me it isn't exhilirating.

I found a clip of a full race from the TV point of view too which is worth a watch. I'm addicted.

  • Awesome video showing feet job, where we can also see how he lightly/repeatly presses brake pedal before hard decelerations to check pads are "still there"...
