The new Ford Fiesta ST Edition is a 1-of-300 hot hatch special

200ps, a Quaife LSD, launch control, and numerous handling refinements make this the king of all Fiesta STs

Ford has today unveiled a new limited-edition run of 300 'edition' Fiesta ST hot hatches. Easily identified by the unique Azura Blue paintwork previously only available from Ford's SVO range and high gloss black detailing, the new Fiesta ST Edition is limited to just 500 units in Europe, with 300 going to UK dealerships.

Building upon the multi-award-winning Fiesta ST hatchback, the Edition features Ford Performance adjustable coilovers and flow-formed alloy wheels to increase handling capabilities and reduce unsprung weight. Put together, these features make it the "most rewarding, agile, and confident Fiesta driving experience yet."

2020 Ford Fiesta ST Edition specification

Extensively tested and developed at the iconic Nürburgring Nordschleife by Ford Performance engineers, the Fiesta ST 'Edition' is designed to optimise balance and control through corners while offering the flexibility for experienced drivers to further tailor the suspension setup to their specific driving needs.

The two-way adjustable coilovers feature twin-tube stainless steel damper housings, and powder-coated springs finished in Ford Performance Blue for extra style and responsiveness. The ride height has been lowered 15mm at the front and 10mm at the rear, though this too is adjustable should drivers wish to change it. Twelve ‘bump’ settings – the degree of upward damper movement allowed as the wheel encounters a bump in the road, and 16 rebound settings – the speed at which the damper returns to position after an upward movement, allow exquisite fine-tuning of the ST Edition's setup.

The lighter wheels save 2kg each over the standard ST wheels, and follow the profile of rougher road surfaces more effectively, thereby reducing the demand on the dampers and springs, improving tyre contact with the road.

Further handling improvements come in the form of the Quaife limited-slip differential (LSD) delivering maximum grip on corner exit and working in tandem with Ford’s enhanced Torque Vectoring Control technology. Steering feel is further enhanced by utlising a bespoke steering knuckle design; Unique EPAS calibration with a 12:1 steering ratio, and a high-performance braking system making use of the 278mm vented front and 253mm solid rear discs.

2020 Ford Fiesta ST Drive Modes, Launch Control

The Edition model continues to offer selectable drive modes, with Normal, Sport, and Track modes available. Sport mode is also now able to be activated directly from a dedicated button on the Ford Performance steering wheel. Launch Control is also available, and a switchable three-mode electronic stability control system is standard.

“Our new Fiesta ST Edition squeezes even more excitement out of the best-handling compact hot-hatch on the road,” said Stefan Muenzinger, Ford Performance manager for Europe. “The Edition model puts drivers firmly in control with the ability to manually adjust the feel of their car and fine-tune the handling to suit their personal preference.”

2020 Ford Fiesta ST Edition Engine

The Fiesta ST Edition is fitted with Ford’s 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol engine, delivering 200PS at 6,000rpm, and 290Nm of torque from 1,600rpm to 4,000rpm. 0-62mph takes 6.5 seconds, and a top speed of 143mph is capable from the plucky little hot hatch.

2020 Ford Fiesta ST Edition Interior

Inside the Fiesta, interior changes include a carbon fibre effect finish on the instrument cluster surround and dashboard decorative elements. The air vent apertures and a unique red illuminated starter button are finished with chrome-effect rings.

The Fiesta ST Edition’s signature flat-bottomed steering wheel, gear knob, and handbrake are all finished in leather and feature distinctive blue stitching to match the exterior, as do the door trims, ST-branded floor mats, seatbelts, and ST-branded Recaro heated sports seats with adjustable lumbar support.

2020 Ford Fiesta ST Edition Price

Priced at £27,075, the special edition Fiesta is significantly more costly than its standard counterpart. But with its enhanced performance and rarity, it's a cost that's worth bearing for die-hard Ford Performance fans.

  • "finished in Ford Performance Blue for extra style and responsiveness"

That is one utterly hilarious line. 👏

  • Would it be toe-in-the-water test to see market reaction with the view to launch mid-engine RWD/AWD, similar to Escort RS200 of mid-80's vintage?

  • I don't understand why Ford doesn't offer that in north American

  • I’m not following...other than the color, is this car any different from the ORANGE “performance edition” we got some time ago?
