Hyundai introduced the Genesis, an executive full-size sedan, in 2008. The car was widely well received, both critically and commercially, and Hyundai eventually decided to turn Genesis into a standalone brand, called Genesis Motor, in 2015.

Since then, Genesis has introduced four vehicles. Two of these cars were made from scratch, designed and engineered specifically by and for Genesis Motor: the G70 in 2017 and GV80 in 2020. The other two cars were introduced to replace the equivalent Hyundai that preceded them. In 2018, Genesis unveiled the G90, a de-facto replacement for the Hyundai Equus and the G80 in 2016, arguably the most important car of them all because it is the successor to the original Hyundai Genesis that basically kick-started the brand.

Now there's a new, face-lifted version of the G80 and the company is going to unveil online, with a digital world premiere that is going to be live streamed on Genesis' YouTube channel tomorrow, Sunday March, 29 at 12:00 pm Eastern time

The car looks promising. I like the brand's design language, I think their cars look elegant while also maintaining a certain je-ne-sais-quoi. It also has a slight bold and brash attitude to it that fits both the car and the market segment it's targeting.

Are you going to watch the live streaming event? I might. I mean, what else is there to do these days?

  • After owning 2 Hyundai Azera models back to back, I was grievously disappointed when they canceled the model. A truly wonderful car- performed well for its size, rode extremely well, very good quality & would still be driving the second one if a teenager had not broadsided me and totaled the car. This new genesis is probably going to find its way into my driveway!

    • I got $20 that’s says I’d still have my first Hyundai Santa Fe if someone had not hit it. The second one has never been anything but a great vehicle. 230 thousand miles between the two of them.
