Few months back, it felt like everything was falling apart. The dream to see the much anticipated modern version of the legendary Lancia Stratos was about to remain a dream! But that was before Ferrari finally gave a green signal to Manifattura Automobili Torino(MAT) to go ahead with their plans of using a Ferrari F430 for the construction of the new Stratos. At the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, MAT have announced the beginning of exciting times by showcasing a blacked out Stratos.
The New Stratos will start its life as an Ferrari F430 before being completely stripped out and transformed into a modern icon. Only 25 units will be made and they will be available in three different versions- GT racer, Safari which should be an out and out rally car and the final daily usable supercar version.
MAT who is backed by a billionaire and his dream have worked with Pinninfarina to come up with this body style which does justice to the original design. All the design highlights which made the original car an icon have been very intricately incorporated into this modern version.
MAT have ensured the new Stratos will not be just a display piece and given a significant power boost to its 4.8 litre Ferrari sourced V8. The New Stratos will be able to achieve 0-100km/h in 3.3 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 7.9 seconds and a top speed in the region upwards of 180 mph thanks to its 542 HP V8 engine as well as a comparatively light weight of just under 1250 kg.
Prices for these units will most likely begin around 550,000 euros which also includes the price of an used F430.
