The New Mercedes C63 AMG is a 4-cylinder Hybrid?
Mercedes-Benz are downsizing the traditional V8 powerplant in their C63 to a hybrid 4-pot
The upcoming C63 AMG, from Mercedes, is going to be the first of the new AMG models to swap some of its displacement for batteries.
Due to go on sale in early 2022, the new C63 will be fitted with Mercedes' new turbocharged 2.0-litre M139 engine which really packs a punch. The unit fitted to the A45 AMG produces 416bhp and 369lb ft of torque, although it is likely to receive a few tweaks when it's combined with an electric motor, expected to push a power figure well into the 500's.
The turbo-charged lump has already been engineered for longitudinal mounting as well as mild-hybrid electric boosting. It marked a new direction for AMG performance cars, as EU regulations continue to clamp down on emissions.
Like before, the all new C63 will be offered in coupé, convertible and saloon body styles, however it's unclear if Mercedes will offer the car in the form of an estate, to rival the new M3 from BMW.
