The new Porsche 911 GT3 will be unveiled next week
Porsche have us all excited following a rather cryptic tweet...
The Porsche 911 is the king of everyday supercars, and is often seen as a 'benchmark' car for not only its usability, but its performance too. The new 911 GT3 is certainly set to step up the game even further, and Porsche has been very actively teasing the "youngest member of the Porsche 911 GT family."
While they admittedly don't specify that it is the GT3, between the text and the image itself, it's pretty self-explanatory. The gigantic swan-neck rear wing (yes, the one that had people screaming "it won't go on sale like that!") is clear to see, along with the iconic curves of the 911's rear haunches.
They have also been tweeting out images on the Porsche Twitter page, showcasing two cars with exaggerated motorsport wings from their lineup, in order to build more hype for their latest reveal. Those cars are a Cayman GT4 and a 911 GT3 RS, both of which are also well-respected in the Porsche family.
In terms of powerplant, we know the upcoming GT3 will retain a naturally-aspirated, 4l flat-six engine with over 500hp, paired to a seven-speed PDK or six-speed manual gearbox.
Of course, Porsche's GT cars are known for their formidable performance on track, and this GT3 will be no exception. New multi-link front suspension, thinner glass, reduced noise insulation, and removal of the rear seats have all been implemented to save weight and sharpen up the performance of the incoming GT3, ready for it to take on cars worth significantly more money, and leave them feeling rather sheepish indeed.
With the reveal scheduled for February 16 via a live-streamed event, we don't have long to wait before we see the latest GT in Porsche's lineup.
