The next Zenvo hypercar will be a hybrid
Zenvo is a Danish hypercar maker that became a lot more famous in the car world when one of its cars, the ST1, caught fire on Top Gear [S 21, E 3 ] in 2014.
The brand had always been active, but it has also faced constant reliability and financial problems. Last year, the company posted a loss of around $2.2m due to increased R&D costs and even though that’s not too terrible for a car company, they know they need to offset losses by shifting more units.
Their latest model, the 1,117-hp TSR-S, was launched in 2019 and the company is now working on a brand new model, as confirmed by Zenvo's product director Alberto Solera.
Solera says we’ll able to measure the car’s performance figures in ‘smiles per miles’, and he added that the new model will be an AWD hybrid.
In the meantime, the TSR-S has just been homologated for sale in the U.S. where the company plans to sell at least 15 cars a year.
Zenvo is currently exempt from EU emission regulations but that’ll change soon and on top of that, the European market isn’t exactly flourishing with declining sales (except for SUVs) and rising taxes. As a result, Zenvo will likely continue to prioritize North America, the Middle East and China. Good on them.
