Trying to make any run of the mill SUV cool is a very tough task. Step forward Nissan and their Rogue Millennium Falcon, which could well be a world first, an SUV you'd actually want to pilot.
Created by Nissan USA to celebrate the release of the upcoming flick, Solo: A Star Wars Story, this custom Rogue (a Qashqai in the UK) was built by Vehicle Effects with a little design help from Lucasfilm and Industrial Light and Magic (ILM). Who worked together giving it a full Millennium Falcon makeover with handcrafted aluminium panels and a custom interior.
Here are a few of the coolest things we found making this Rogue the fastest SUV in the galaxy.
Roof-mounted laser cannon for the street
Mounted on the roof of this Rogue is a laser cannon straight out of the YT-1300 parts bin letting you blast anyone who cuts you up on your commute. While the radar dish is just waiting for your best friend ‘Lando’ to borrow it, after which he will make some Death Star related excuse as to why it’s gone missing.
Jump to lightspeed on your commute
At the back of this Rogue is a subspace-hyperdrive covering the entire width of the car. It glows bright blue to tell other road users you’re jumping to lightspeed, with a trio of Bose speakers and an 18-inch subwoofer – As after all, jumping to lightspeed should sound cool.
Wookie co-pilot not included
At the front, the Rogue gets the full Millennium Falcon cockpit, which is not very road-legal, but looks pretty mega. On the inside, it’s gone full Falcon spec with an interior closely mimicking the legendary smuggler ship complete with switches and sound effects to give a proper Star Wars experience.
One thing sadly missing is a best friend/Wookie co-pilot, but hey, you can console yourself by saying “don’t everybody thank me at once” every time you escape from the Empire.
Now Nissan, can we have the keys please...
