The Swedish electric performance company Polestar is back with yet another high performance sedan, the Precept. With looks that would be to Darth Vaders liking, and a powerful electric motor in the works, it could be a sedan to rival the Tesla Model S P100D.

We don't have that much information about the powertrain as of now, but we do have details on the design.

Design

With Polestar at the forefront of sustainable cars, they have decided to use recycled plastic to create 3D Knit, which will be used in the seats. They will also be using TampliTexâ„¢, which is a material made from woven flax fibres. A statement from the Polestar website said

"When used in the interior of a car, for example, it [TampliTexâ„¢] reduces both vibrations and overall weight, while acting as a visual layer. The fibres are processed mechanically as opposed to chemically, and flax itself is much less taxing on soil than other crops."

Polestar is essentially growing a car, thanks to many of the materials being recycled and plant based.

They are also using powerRibsâ„¢, which also happens to be made from flax.

The design of the powerRibsâ„¢is inspired by the veins in leaves, and improves the strength of panels, whilst being incredibly lightweight, It also minimises vibrations by 250%. It reacts better in crashes than other widely used materials. Yet another quote from Polestar:

"Ground-breaking materials made from organic components used to only be found in the far future of science fiction. Soon, they could be found in a Polestar."

The Looks

It is a truly stunning machine, with edgy sci fi looks, and a sleek interior, whats not to love about the Precept?

Overall, this is a brilliant car, and I would love to see it go into production. If all goes well, we could see the Polestar name become synonymous amongst car enthusiasts.

  • TampliTex sounds like a hygiene product, but the rest of it seems great!

  • Looks nice. I will wait for it to get to the used market to see if I like it.

  • That's amazing! Car manufacturers really need to do things like this, it really carves a path in sustainability. People are crying about plastic waste and other waste, and companies are just saying 'soon we will reduce our plastic waste' or 'by 2043 we will reduce our carbon footprint by 5%'. That is old, and all lies. More manufactures should be doing this, and I love these new techniques and materials as they are almost always better than usual materials, or the same performance. I say, go on with this car!
