The Porsche 911 Carrera S faces the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 in a drag race!

The German sports car challenges the American muscle car

While the Porsche 911 Turbo S unquestionably dominates the entire competition in drag races, it can be compared to other vehicles in its more affordable Carrera S version. Less furious, this more relaxed version of the 911 is obviously less powerful, less equipped and less expensive.

In this spec, the 911 Carrera S could finally give the competition a chance. Today, it is the sportiest Chevrolet Camaro that will compete with the German. The Camaro ZL1 hides under its long bonnet a huge 6.2-litre V8 producing 650 PS and 881 Nm of torque. It sends all that power to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

In the other side, the Porsche 911 Carrera S is more modest, with lower figures. A small 3.0-litre, flat-six with 450 PS and 530 Nm of torque is used. The German also sends all this cavalry to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The 911 Carrera S is therefore almost half as powerful as the Camaro ZL1! The Chevrolet therefore starts off with a huge advantage on paper. But will this theoretical advantage be verified in reality?
