The Porsche Boxster is back with the flat-6!
The 4.0 L flat-6 is now available for the Porsche Boxster
The flat-6 is returning to both the Boxster and the cayman for 2021 and its exciting. The naturally aspirated 4.0 L flat-6 will produce up to 394 horsepower and will have a redline at 7,800 rpm. It can accelerate from 0-60 in 3.8 seconds and have a quarter mile time of 12.0 seconds at 118 mph. That is only a tenth slower than the popular GT4.
Not to mention the Boxster has a six-speed manual transmission, which will really make this car fun to drive. The 4.0 L is a bored out version of the 911s flat-6. The car has two exhaust modes. One of which makes the car sound louder, which is exactly what you want! The Boxster also has cylinder deactivation and auto start stop to save fuel. According to Car And Driver, the car got 23 mpg on average, which is pretty decent.
The Boxster has great brakes that can bring the car to a complete stop from 70 mph in just 141 feet and from 100 in 293 feet. To speak a little more about the engine the 4.0 L naturally aspirated flat-6 is a DOHC, 24 valve work of art that uses aluminum heads and an aluminum block. Again it produces 394 horsepower at 7000 rpm and 309 lb ft of torque at 5,000 rpm. The car uses vented carbon-ceramic brakes discs and Pirelli P Zero PZ4 tires. The car can accelerate from 0-100 mph in just 8.7 seconds and has a top speed of 182 mph.
