The Porsche 'Can-Am Killer' is Forza Motorsport 7's latest Spotlight car
You can drive all 1,500hp of the 1973 Penske Sunoco 917/30 Can-Am Spyder. But are you able to tame it?
You probably know there are a load of Hot Wheels cars now available in Forza Motorsport 7 (and a couple in Forza Horizon 4), but did you know about the 1973 Penske Sunoco 917/30 Can-Am Spyder?
If the answer is no, then you should know two things. One, it's free for anyone who owns the game, as opposed to requiring a Car Pass. Two, it is ludicrously powerful and, therefore, should go like the clappers.
The 'Can-Am Killer', as it has been rightfully dubbed, was driven by Mark Donohue, AKA Captain Nice, who took the car to victory at all but two races in one season. That makes it one of the most effective race cars of all time.
Part of that success can be attributed to the 5.4-litre flat-12, which could deliver between 1,000 and 1,500hp. The driver could actually adjust the figure from inside the car using a dial, which is both cool and terrifying.
This unusual functionality is, sadly, missing from Forza Motorsport 7 so you will have to choose the level of insanity before you leave the start line. But we doubt players will be too upset given the heritage, looks and that it has only appeared in one racing game before now.
Recently announced by Turn 10, the game's main developer, is the news that it has been working on making the AI better, which will be news to anyone who has watched their 1,000hp supercar beast get done over by a sporty hatchback in either of the latest Forza games.
