While the second generation of the Porsche Panamera is only a few years old, a mid-life facelift is on the way. Since the Panamera doesn’t look outdated at all, the changes will be limited to some details. In Germany, car enthusiasts have spotted several prototypes being tested.
The mods on the prototypes were all extremely tiny and subtle. It’s difficult to spot what the actual changes are and the sneaky camouflages make it even more challenging. If you’re a real Porsche enthusiast, the new taillights are definitely the first thing sticking out. The new taillight system is much narrower. Possibly just a thin band will remain sooner or later.
At the front side, the air intakes look different from the current Panamera. From what we can derive from spy images, there will probably be a re-designed bumper with a new shape of fog lights. There might be a new grille design and perhaps new daytime LED lights. Because of the difficulty of distinguishing a facelifted Panamera from a current Panamera MK2, due to the camouflaging and the completely different looking prototypes, we truly can’t list up the mods of this upcoming facelift with any certainty.
Except of a few shots that suggest a new steering wheel, there are no spy images of the interior yet. As a consequence of the current good-looking tech-laden interior of the Porsche Panamera, changes will logically be limited. Possibly, we can expect some new functions of the infotainment system, new colors and new materials.
Another big question mark is whether there”ll be changes under the bonnet. The addition of the mild-hybrid system of Audi and perhaps even the use of electric compressors are the most discussed options. Certainly because of Porsche’s decision of having no diesels anymore. On a sidenote, a wildly discussed decision because of the decreasing sales results it caused.
Since little is known about the facelifted Porsche Panamera MK2, we’ll have to wait for an announcement. Let’s not expect too much. Porsche is known for their subtle and not all too radical facelifts. Sometimes modded editions remain looking relatively unchanged. Drastic changes just aren’t their cup of tea.
