The Prettiest Renault

I know that's not a high bar to vault over, but it does go to show that they could do it once!
Marketed in North America and Britain as a Caravelle, the little Renault was built from 1958 until 1968.
The Floride is powered (barely) by a 1.0 Litre in-line 4 cylinder mated to an all-synchro 4-speed manual gearbox.
The Floride was based on the running gear of the Dauphine Sedan.

3 Body types were available - a 2+2 Coupe, a 2+2 Cabriolet and a Convertible.
117,000 were produced.
3 different engines were available over the course of the model run - 845cc, 956cc and the big-block 1108cc !
The Floride was at least light - only 822kg.
The engine is rear-mounted, like a VW Beetle.
The standard gearbox was a 3-speed - the 4-speed was an extra-cost option.

Right! But the Corvair, Karman Ghia and the early Franklin's are all good looking, air-cooled cars!
