The Polestar 2 is Polestar's mid-size electric sedan. It will rival one of the stars of the category, the Tesla Model 3. In order not to fall behind in orders, the Swedish brand has started production of the car at the Luqiao plant in China. The first cars will arrive in Europe.
After Europe, it will be the turn of the United States and China to be served. However, the start of production is particularly timid since even if the progression of the coronavirus has slowed down considerably in China, caution is still called for. Thus, many restrictions are still imposed on the factory's employees.
As a reminder, the Polestar 2 is, as its name indicates, the second model of the Swedish brand. Based on Volvo's CMA platform, the 2 is considered as Volvo's first mass-market electric car, despite a starting price of €58,900 (£54,200/$63,600) in Germany. Its classic styling is largely based on Volvo's design.
The Polestar 2 has batteries of up to 78 kWh for a maximum range of 310 miles. In its most powerful version, the Polestar 2 develops 408 hp and 660 Nm of torque. This cavalry enables the Polestar 2 to do 0 to 62 mph in 4.7 seconds.
