The Rolls-Royce Cullinan is a palace on wheels
After what seems like an eternity – The Rolls Royce Cullinan has been unveiled
After months of teasing, Rolls Royce has finally unveiled the Cullinan, its first ever SUV.
It’s a huge slab-sided beast of a car, and is very much aimed at people who don’t ever have to worry about fighting for a parking space.
According to Rolls Royce it’s more than 5.3 metres long, a width-restriction-grinding 2.1-metres wide and 1.8-metres high. And yeah, you can probably see it from space.
Powerrrrrr
Under that massive bonnet sits a huge 6.75-litre twin-turbo V12 engine with 563bhp and a ridiculous 850 Nm of torque, which should be ample for overtaking dawdlers in lesser cars. All this power is there for a reason – the Cullinan weighs in at a phenomenal 2,660kg, which is about the same as a small planet.
To help you along with all this heft, that massive torque figure is available from walking pace, allowing the Cullinan to hit a limited top speed of 155mph, making it the fastest stately home the world has ever seen.
Design
The Cullinan’s design details are classic Rolls Royce: you get the familiar grille, a Spirit of Ecstasy statue plonked on the bonnet, rear-hinged suicide doors and mighty 22-inch wheels. What it arguably lacks is class – let us know how you think it looks in the comments.
One unarguably cool feature available in the Cullinan is the split tailgate with a pair of jump seats, allowing you to recline and view the summit you’ve just climbed from the luxury of the boot.
Many cows died to bring you this car
The Cullinan’s imposing body sits on an all-new aluminium chassis, which Rolls says offers extraordinary body stiffness to give the very best ride and performance on rough terrain while offering Rolls Royce’s “Magic Carpet Ride” via a re-engineered self-levelling air suspension system.
On the inside, it’s as you’d expect for a lifted Rolls Royce, with many cows sacrificing themselves for the finest leather, and you also get some fantastic real wood detailing. This includes a drinks cabinet in the back containing Rolls Royce whiskey glasses with a decanter, and champagne flutes to meet all of one’s requirements when going off-road. While drunk.
Underneath all this luxury, you will find a tech-packed cabin including Panoramic View giving all round-visibility and a helicopter view (should your own chopper be in for a service), and all of the usual safety tech. The highlight of the Cullinan's high-tech kit is the Night Vision and Vision Assist, which can spot both wildlife and pedestrians, which could come in handy for hunting.
This is Rolls Royce’s first ever four-wheel drive car of any kind, and what they have dubbed a “super-luxury SUV". And although its design has caused a wealth of divisive commentary, there is no doubt they will be selling them as fast as fast as they can build them.

It looks like the "Canyonero" SUV from the Simpsons
Uber Posh?
A Rolls Royce hatch back. What’s the world coming to?
No doubt they will sell abroad, “I ordered 12 cars,,, the colour of my wives eyes” . Or you’ll see shell suits and body guards humping designer shopping bags into the greedy wide open metal & glass gob at the back of the car. “ feed me..feed me...petrol & bling bling shopping is my diet” . What’s missing? A dozen selfie cameras throughout the interior with instant links to fb & Twitter.
A car that Bentley Bentayga drivers can aspire to. It's just the ultimate ' wankers' car . Tasteless and vulgar . Should sell well in the middle east.
This will look great once a Cleveland Cavalier (Basketball for you UK folks) tints the windows and has West Coast Customs (Shop with a TV show) lower it back down to Earth and throw on a set of 24" Blacked out Rims and fills the trunk (Boot) with speakers and a fish tank.
