The Seven Coolest Cars Driven By Tony Stark

"Are you....Tony Stank?"

A man with Tony Stark's caliber is bound to have some pretty dope cars. And dope cars he had. From R8s to Cobras to Roadsters, here are the seven coolest cars owned by Tony Stank. I mean, Tony Stark. Let's get counting!

Audi R8 Spyder- an Iron Man staple.

The superhero’s go-to vehicle for everyday use is a belter. It is the one constant that has stuck with the movie franchise over the last few years, starting with the 2007 model in the original Iron Man film. Iron Man 2 saw the arrival of the Audi R8 Spyder, a blissful soft-top version of the supercar. The latest Audi R8 appeared several times in the third film, Iron Man 3, along with several other vehicles – new and classic – but none will likely have the staying power of the R8.

Audi’s supercar is as sleek and stunning as Stark’s own Iron Man armour, a perfect fit no doubt. A powerful 4.2-litre V10 engine with 525 horsepower pushes this car from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 4.8 seconds and comes with permanent quattro four-wheel drive. German engineering at its finest.

Shelby Daytona Coupe- unusual yet expected.

No one can deny that Tony Stark has good taste; from his extravagant mansion with its ocean view to the valuable cars he drives. His refined taste combine modern technology with luxury and refinement. So it makes perfect sense that Stark would balance his collection with a Shelby Daytona Coupe.

The Coupe was based on the Cobra, and maintained a similar chassis and drivetrain. But this car was built to race, and had a significant impact on the racing industry. So much so, that it was added to the list of cars to be historically preserved.

Shelby Cobra- the metallic snake.

A lightweight, no jokes, take-no-prisoners type of minimalistic sports car designed by the Brits and powered by the Americans; it is a real achievement in both design and engineering. The front-mounted V8 engine certainly packs a punch also, going from 0-60 in 4.5 seconds. It is a shame that this vehicle doesn’t really get much attention in the film and ends up being crushed under the weight of Iron Man after a slight rocket-propulsion malfunction. By whichof course I mean: he fell on it.

Acura NSX Concept- a bit different but cool, nonetheless.

One movie that the entire world had been waiting for in 2012 was the massive blockbuster known as The Avengers. In this movie Iron, Captain America, Hawkeye, Thor, Black Widow, and Hulk all came together for the first time to kick some alien butt. Of course, Stark couldn’t go a movie without a flashy car, so he opted for an Acura NSX concept car. Looking back on this car, you can see the differences between it and the production version.

Audi A8- comfort, speed and style all at the same time.

For the reboot of Spider-Man, starring Tom Hollands as the web-slinging superhero, Tony Stark drove a new Audi A8. For the world premiere of the film, Spidey rode on top of a camouflaged A8 as it had not been unveiled yet.

Saleen S7- the Murican hypercar.

Although we only ever see it in a parked position, the Saleen S7 makes its appearance in the first Iron Man movie. It survives a close call when Tony Stark crash lands in his basement garage right next to the S7. It’s later sold by Stark (along with some of his other cars) when he discovers he is being poisoned by his own arc reactor, and will likely die.

Audi RS E-Tron GT- smart, capable and very Stark.

In the latest Avengers, Tony Stark was pictured driving up to the Avengers headquarters in a sleek concept model by Audi -- the E-Tron GT. The GT is not only luxurious enough to earn the approval of Mr. Stark, but also smart, powerful, and practical enough to win over Downey Jr. It generates 590 hp, can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 3.5 seconds, and has a range over 248 miles.

  • Let's chat about the A8 for a second. My best friend's dad had an A8L and then an S8. He had a unique issue on the S8 which turned him to Lexus. He now has an LS hybrid. Here's what happened. One day on the way to work he noticed his steering wheel getting warm. The steering wheel heater was not on. The steering wheel continued to heat up until it was GLOWING red. You read that correctly it was GLOWING red. Unable to touch it he had to stop where he was and have the car taken to the shop. Months went by but they could not find the issue. Frustrated he had them just disconnect the steering heater. Still didn't solve the issue!! He traded it that day on his Lexus. When I asked him if he had regrets, plans to get another Audi (he always had one)? He said, "No regrets and no plans. I love my Lexus and plan to get another after this one". This guy has the money to get literally anything he wants. He chose Lexus because of one simple factor. Reliability. More posh interior and works every time.

I love Germans cars. That's all I have had less two Swedes and two Toyotas. I am driving a Camry today for one reason - reliability. Turn the key and it starts every time. That's not something I was able to say about my last VW. I had to jump it every time I started it even with a brand new battery. Electrical gremlin that I nor several technicians couldn't sort out. German cars have quirks and that's one of the things that makes them fun. Not now that I am disabled.

    My point:

Tony Stark has the funds to have cars that cost money to operate. 99.9999999999999% of us do not. Otherwise I would be rolling German longroof. Probably a Benz 300TD if I could find one. Or another Volvo 850GLT. Not in the stars.

    • Interesting story about the S8. You don't see many glowing hot red steering wheels everyday. But yes, Tony Stark is one rich person.
