The stunning Aston Martin DB11 Volante is here
The team at Gaydon has finally revealed the Aston Martin DB11 Volante
Aston Martin has revealed its new DB11 Volante with the long-awaited rag-top version of the DB11 finally breaking cover.
Firstly the numbers, the new DB11 Volante gets the AMG based 4-litre twin-turbo V8 in its very pretty nose. This is good for 503bhp and a 0-62mph dash in 4.1 seconds dead, 0-100mph will flash past in just 8.8 seconds with the Volante being capable of a very quick 187mph at the top end.
For anyone thinking that proper convertibles with actual soft-tops are not as tough as their folding metal roof counterparts, then think again. Aston says the roof on the DB11 Volante was tested to the extreme during the research and development process.
This process included 100,000 laboratory cycles using special weather chambers to simulate a decade of use in the harshest environments earth has to offer in just one month. The car was also taken hot and cold weather testing in Death Valley and all the way to the Arctic Circle to ensure it was up to the task of being driven around Beverley Hills and the like.
To make it your own, Aston will be offering some personalisation options including three colour choices for that very thoroughly tested rag-top. amongst a host of interior trim options.
The boffins at Gaydon have also been busy with the chassis to make sure it is up to the job of carrying all that heft around. The Volante weighs in at 1,870kg dry this is a 110kg increase over its hard-topped sibling but a whole 26kg lighter and five percent stiffer than the DB9 Volante it replaces.
This smart, creative work continues into the folding roof-system, it has been redeveloped to be smaller, so it frees up more boot space. The roof can be stowed or raised in just 16 seconds which can be activated by the crystal key or from in the car at up to 31 mph.
If you want to feel the wind in your hair while enjoying that awesome V8 soundtrack, then prices start from £159,900 with deliveries starting in the first quarter of 2018.
