The Subaru Viziv Performance STI Concept could be the WRX of the future

After the recent teaser, this is the STI Concept of the recently teased Viziv Performance model, and it’s the WRX STI of the future we really want.

Revealed at the 2018 Tokyo Auto Salon, it takes the Viziv Performance concept announced last year at the Tokyo Motor Show and turns it up to a whole new level of aggression.

Everything we liked about this concept has been carried over to this STI variant, the aggressive looking square arches are there, along with a mass of carbon fibre and a redesigned more menacing looking front air-dam and rear diffuser setup.

It also boasts newly designed versions of the WRXs iconic rear wing and hood scoop making it all look rally ready with an air of absolute menace about it. The design is finished by the now very familiar STI (Subaru Tecnica International) logos and a host of striping throughout the bodywork.

All in, this new concept doesn’t stray that far from the car unveiled last year. It’s pretty much as we would expect, as in that the STI model is all a bit more in your face insane than the standard car, which can only be a good thing.

As is the way of the world, the reveal gives no details away of powertrain, but rumours continue to swirl that the next generation STI will be packing a smaller petrol engine and electric motors to form a hybrid powertrain with four-wheel drive.

Now Subaru, can you please get on with the job of building it to make us all happy.....

What are your thoughts on this STI concept? Let us know in the comments.

  • Remember Subaru isn't an independent manufacturer and at the present, it is under the umbrella of Toyota. Toyota is now in the WRC with their Yaris and if the motorsport division head honcho is an ass (or say the arse), Subaru might be forced to step back with their Impreza and had to have a new car for the race. Thus this one could be the new car for their race activities. Mr. Toyota, the CEO of Toyota is a real carguy or say the petrol head. But Toyota is such a big company and there is the head honcho guy for their motor sport acts. It's up to what Toyota considers. At the moment, Toyota has no car in the same segment with this for the race car.
