To realize the sustainable development of the automobile industry, it is necessary to consider from the perspective of resources and environment and the global development of the entire industrial chain. It requires government policies and financial support. Enterprises must persist in technological innovation and development and master the core technologies of automobiles. As cars play an important role in real life and have a wide range of applications, we also need to put safety issues at an important position. The sustainable use of the automobile industry will inevitably lay a solid foundation for the overall implementation of sustainable development. Therefore, the sustainable development of the automotive industry needs to be analyzed from environmental, economic, and social aspects. First of all, it is necessary to ensure that there is a continuous ability from economic and financial support to meet people's needs for automobiles; second, it must be able to maximize people's quality of life, not only in terms of quantity, but also mainly in ecological and Environmental sustainability; finally, the economic benefits generated by transportation must be shared equally by all parts, which is the sustainability of social development.
Important factors for sustainable development
In terms of the environment, the automotive industry covers multiple complex areas such as manufacturing, environmental protection, energy, safety, and transportation. However, the government only needs to pay attention to external issues such as safety, energy saving, and environmental protection. For example, the manufacturer, production model, and vehicle price are determined by the company and the market. However, the government is formulating standards with strategic significance for sustainable development, such as environmental protection standards and energy requirements. Therefore, companies need to pay attention to government trends and adjust their corporate image and industrial structure in a timely manner. The government uses mandatory fuel efficiency and quality standards, and automobile exhaust emission standards as thresholds. The bottom line of energy conservation and environmental protection is of great significance to sustainable development. How to reduce pollution through a variety of ways in addition to the development of clean energy technology, such as exhaust gas secondary combustion and exhaust gas secondary treatment purification and re-emission is an important topic for the sustainable development of the automobile industry and society.
Regarding the economy, the development of the automobile industry can drive the development of a large number of related industries to promote national economic growth, break through the limits of employment and housing, and play a positive role in building a reasonable urban structure. While promoting economic growth and bringing convenience to people’s lives, automobile traffic also brings a series of social problems: many road facilities aggravate urban land tension, increase road congestion, and aggravate environmental pollution and energy consumption. However, due to the recent impact of COVID-19, car sales have been hit hard. According to data from MIA, New Zealand’s sales in April 2020 have fallen by 90% compared to April last year. In addition, I think that for the current car development, the cost of making new cars is increasing, coupled with the impact of COVID-19, the price of new cars will be relatively high in the next one to two years.

In terms of society, with the acceleration of urbanization in recent years, urban motor vehicles have increased rapidly, and people's travel distance and travel intensity have also increased year by year, and urban transportation demand has increased rapidly. Although the transportation construction of cities in our country has achieved rapid development in recent years, the speed of road construction has not kept up with the growth of transportation demand, the contradiction between transportation supply and demand is becoming increasingly acute, and the phenomenon of urban congestion is becoming more and more serious. Urban congestion is a bottleneck in urban social life and economic development, so alleviating urban congestion has become a very important issue.

Regarding my suggestions and opinions on the sustainable development of automobiles. The automobile industry is an industry that promotes people's consumption. It requires people to buy vehicles and other sponsorships to make the technology and quality of cars better. Therefore, companies in the automotive industry must also pay more attention to sustainable development. For example, new energy vehicles are an important part of sustainable development, and their development has considerable practical significance and value for the social dimension of sustainable development. In a broad sense, new energy vehicles, also known as alternative fuel vehicles, refer to vehicles that do not use gasoline and diesel as driving energy, including pure electric vehicles, fuel cell vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles, and ethanol gasoline vehicles. Pure electric vehicles completely abandon the use of internal combustion engines and do not rely on burning traditional fuels such as gasoline and diesel. Its advantages are zero pollution, low noise, and simple structure. At present, hybrid electric vehicles mostly use electric motors as auxiliary or main power, which inherits the advantages of low emissions from electric vehicles and improves the pollution and fuel consumption of vehicles with traditional internal combustion engines. Fuel cell vehicles do not burn fuel, but directly obtain electrical energy through conversion. The entire battery operation process hardly generates harmful gas or energy loss, and fuel cell vehicles have excellent power and operability.
The development of small-displacement cars is also a very good development direction. Small displacement usually refers to miniature cars with a displacement of about 1.0 liter. Small-displacement cars have small dimensions, small roads and parking spaces, low consumption of materials such as steel and paint, and have certain advantages in terms of comprehensive fuel consumption and pollutant emissions. It is recommended to set a single low tax rate for small-displacement vehicles to promote the development of small-displacement vehicles. In addition, it is possible to reduce the cost of consumers using small-displacement vehicles by reducing various road maintenance fees, parking fees, road and bridge tolls, reimbursement fees and other related expenses for small-displacement vehicles. If small-displacement vehicles undergo continuous technological innovation to solve technical problems such as safety, emissions, and energy saving, it is very much in line with the current direction of the automobile industry to encourage development.

We should explore a path suitable for sustainable automobile development between automobile development and environmental protection, energy conservation, and social governance.
