The Tesla Model 3 is officially the most popular car on TikTok
Elon Musk really does know how to interact with social media
Normally when cars are associated with social media the image that springs to mind is some spoilt 16 year old idiot who turns up in a purple Lamborghini so they can show off the jewellery bought with their daddy's money then tell everyone about it on Instagram. On TikTok though this isn't quite so true.
Saveonenergy conducted some research on this and found that the Tesla Model 3 was the most popular car on the Chinese platform with 784,700,000 views for Model 3 related videos globally. Next up is the Model S and X with 236,100,000 and 180,600,000 views respectively.
After the Tesla's are off the radar then the Audi E-Tron is the next most popular EV on TikTok with 143,300,000 views. According to Saveonenergy the Renault Zoe is the least popular EV on the platform but there is a problem with that statement- the least popular one will be on the EV nobody has ever heard of with a video nobody has ever seen. Go ahead and name one of these unknown EVs while we're at it. Problem: you can't name something you don't know about so take the least popular statistic with a pinch of salt.
I am not really surprised with Tesla's being king here considering TikTok is made up of sad teenagers talking about their sad lives in front of an iPhone. What does slightly surprise me is the fact that the Model 3 is more popular than the Model X because those falcon-wing doors will attract attention in a way that a normal door used by peasants can't.
Mr Musk-they are gullwings. Mercedes-Benz used them first so they get to make the name up before you.
what these findings do show is that Tesla really knows how to interact with an audience. It is a shame though that they seem to find boring stuff like voice control funny though. Its TikTok don't forget-do you really expect better?
