THE TOP 5 MUST WATCH FORMULA 1 MOVIES
THE ONLY MOVIES WORTH WATCHING
5: 1: LIFE ON THE LIMIT
Narrated by Michael Fassbender, this brilliantly put together documentary takes a look at how safety has changed in the sport we love. With unseen footage and interviews from the likes of Michael Schumacher, Bernie Ecclestone and Lewis Hamilton, this film is definitely worth a watch.
Released this year, McLaren is another documentary film capturing the rise of Bruce McLaren. The film excellently combines newly dramatised footage as well as interviews and classic film to tell the story of New Zealander who built himself an empire that lives today.
I'm not ashamed to say that I had a tear in my eye by the end of this film. Whilst it satisfies the motorsport lover, it manages to delve deeper into the tragedy of Sir Frank Williams' terrible accident, and the aftermath that unfolded within his own family. A great documenting of one man, his family and his racing team.
The Senna movie paved the way for the recent string of Formula 1 documentaries that we are currently seeing. I would implore any Formula 1 fan to watch this movie. Everyone knows the story of Senna, but never before have we seen so much unseen footage from FOM. Even though we know what the ending of the film will be, Director Asif Kapadia manages to build the storyline and tension so brilliantly that it is still a shock somewhat when the ending comes.
1: GRAND PRIX
It is not the greatest story line in the world, but Grand Prix remains the best Formula 1 movie ever made. Starring the 1966 season it features tortured love stories and terrible tragedies. The action sequences are mesmerising combining great visuals and great sound to create a sensory overload. Absolute brilliance.
