The best car themed games releasing this year

21w ago

The best thing about this time of year is that there are always plenty of new video games just around the corner scheduled to hit store shelves in time for Christmas. Even with a number of this years titles being delayed, such as Gran Turismo 7, there will still be plenty to keep all types of car enthusiasts happy during the damp, dark, cold months ahead.

Here are 5 of the best motoring-themed games to look forward to that will be released before the end of the year.

WRC 10

Following on from last years WRC 9, this years release looks set to be one of the best rally simulators available. 52 official WRC teams will be featured in the games career mode, which now also includes a new livery editor so you’ll be able to give your car and team a unique look. There is also set to be new daily and weekly challenges available to help keep the game exciting well after it’s September 2nd release date.

More info on what’s new in WRC 10 can be found here.

Bus Simulator 21

I know the title says racing games but it turns out there aren’t many traditional racing games releasing this year, so we’ll have to do some bus racing instead. Bus Simulator 21 will be available on consoles and PC from September 7 and will be the first game in the series to include both electric and double-decker buses as part of its fleet of 30 officially licensed vehicles.

Hot Wheels Unleashed

If bus and rally driving aren’t for you then September will also see the release of Hot Wheels Unleashed. This new arcade racer is based around the iconic orange tracks and will feature several modes to keep everyone happy, including online multiplayer, local split screen, and there’ll even be a custom track builder available when the game launches on September 30.

Forza Horizon 5

The fifth entry in the Forza Horizon series is set to be one of the most popular games of the year when it becomes available on November 9. Horizon 5 will take players to Mexico where they’ll find everything from deserts to city streets and even a volcano, all included in the biggest map ever seen in the franchise’s history.

Full details on the Horizon 5 map can be found here.

Farming Simulator 22

Now that we have ran out of racing games for this year you will have to discover your inner Jeremy Clarkson and imagine you’re driving a Bentley through the fields of Diddly Squat Farm. Farming Simulator 22 will feature 100 real agricultural brands of tractors and other equipment, although Lamborghini is unconfirmed at this stage. You will be able to experience the farmers life for yourself when the game launches on November 22 for PC, Mac, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and Google Stadia.

  • Horizon is an awful game irritating at almost every level. Due to delays in FM8 I went PC/VR with project cars, AC, race room and not looking back. I was a console guy until the delay of FM8 and COVID lockdown had me investing heavily into Fanatec and next level cockpit with motion and traction. With VR it is incredible
