The Ugliest Cars of the 2020 Model Year
For My Last Post of 2020 (at the time of writing), I thought why not end this Ugly year with the Ugliest Cars of 2020
In my last post, I talked about my favorite cars of 2020, but today I will be talking about the cars that are heinous to look at. Here is a list of cars that need a redesign or need to die altogether with 2020.
1.) Hyundai Sonata
Whoever greenlit this design at Hyundai, really must be blind. The new Sonata is very appalling to look at. I don't get it either because the previous Sonata was actually a decent looking car. This design is laughably bad but hey, at least it's got "Smaht Pahk". Right?
2.) BMW X4 & X6
When BMW introduced the BMW X4 and X6, They weren't what I'd call attractive. They were ugly. In 2020 however, BMW did the impossible. They made these 2 models look even worse. Clearly, the BMW styling department was inspired by a potato when designing the X4 and X6. In 2020 they have turned into fatter potatoes for the street and the public is worse off for it.
3.) Mercedes GLE & GLC "Coupes"
Mercedes GLE "Coupe"
Mercedes GLC "Coupe"
Speaking of potato inspired design, that leads me to the Mercedes GLE and GLC are just as ugly as the X4 and X6 especially in "coupe" form. Seriously, what is with these brands making these crossovers that look like blobs? They aren't cool, they aren't fast, and they are definitely not coupes. They are eyesores on the road and this trend needs to die... Quickly.
4.) Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD/3500HD
Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD
Ray Charles could see and Stevie doesn't have to wonder that the 2020 Duramax Silverados are diabolical to look at. They are arguably the worst looking vehicle of the year. The face that these trucks have can give someone nightmares. It's so ugly and it should be put out of its misery. I just wonder where everything went south in the Chevrolet styling department with the 2500 and 3500, because the Silverado 1500 doesn't actually look all that bad and neither does its GMC Sierra counterparts.
5.) Toyota Prius
After all these years, Toyota has managed to keep the Prius's look funky but in an ugly way. Yet somehow even with its ugly funky styling, it still looks dull and boring, and it blends in with traffic.
6.) Mitsubishi Elcipse Cross
Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross
In it's third year of production, the Eclipse Cross still remains the modern day Pontiac Aztek in how it looks and it's still just as disgraceful to the original Elcipse and Mitsubishi themselves as it was when it launched. For 2020 nothing much has changed except for the fact that this monstrosity is still being made and to make things worse, a facelift is coming.
These cars didn't quite make the list because they aren't the 2020 model years but introduced this year or weren't quite ugly enough to be considered ugly in the general public opinion of Drivetribe.
I cannot put into words how much I dislike the C8 Corvette. Putting the engine behind the driver has ruined the look of the Corvette because it's a bad mix of a Corvette, Camaro, McLaren, and Ferrari. It just doesn't look right to me.
The New BMW M3 & 4 Series
BMW's awful fasination with big, guady, ugly, dispraportionate grilles continues. They have shown what the new 3 and 4 series will look like. Unfortunately they have put the obscene grilles on the otherwise brilliant M3 and new 4 series cars for the 2021 model years.
Ford Mustang Mach-E
Ford has done the unthinkable. They turned the wildly successful pony into an EV. That within itself isn't bad but what's horrid is that the EV Mustang is a distasteful bloated, ugly crossover. This monstrosity is a 2021 model year saving it from being on the official 2020 ugly car list.
With that, I wish everyone a Happy New Year. Let me know in the comments what you think the ugliest car(s) of 2020 were and give this article a bump.
