The UK's Most Loved and Trusted Car
A look into the most recent report from The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders to see what is the most popular car.
The Top 10 Colours of 2017
This only includes used car sales (which shouldn't affect the results too much) and so far it is all as expected.
I'm struggling to think of many beige or buff coloured cars I've seen and the only one I can think of is that skin toned, hearing-aid-like coloured Fiat 500. I can understand how these colours are popular because after all beige colours are very popular in fashion and I can't imagine many people brought a yellow car recently...
Car Registrations by Brand
This report was released at the beginning of March and includes the change from last year however I've kept it simple for you...
I highlighted the brands with over 15,000 registrations, mainly so it includes the higher majority. With a large lead Ford has the most with 50,000 registrations ahead of Vauxhall and Volkswagen by about 13,000 which sounds a lot at first but when considering the large gaps in the table it isn't that bad. Now I highlighted MINI because surprisingly they aren't doing too well for these boards but have gone down by -4.56% in registrations (which sits about average) but seem to be lagging behind a bit.
The Biggest in Change
Aston & McLaren share opposite ends of the table
When looking at the change of registrations McLaren have a clear lead with a huge 78% increase despite having rarer cars. It is a sad story for Aston as they have almost halved in their registrations. This could all be to do with them becoming more of a treasure and less people finding the guts to drive them or just simply because cars like the P1 are more popular amongst the younger generations that are now in the higher classes... This doesn't mean that Astons aren't popular though!
Drum-roll please...
And the most Loved and Trusted car of both 2017 and of March 2018 is...
2017 Ford Fiesta, five door.
A Ford Fiesta!
And a rightful place it is! As expected from the start when you include both newly sold and number of transactions, the Fiesta flies high with a secure place in first. Since 1976 the Fiesta has been popular in Britain and North America with the sixth generation still being produced today.
Overall you can see how well the Fiesta is doing, in second place after doing some maths is the Ford Focus which is closely followed by the Vauxhall Corsa.
So from this we can take that a Silver/Aluminium Fiesta is the most loved car in the UK although I'm sure that we would all put our own favourite car at the top of this.
Hats off to Ford for holding top positions!
