I am a person of mostly unpopular opinions that will leave people either offended or furious with disagreement for example that pasta is better buttered, that the VW Transporter is better than the Ford Transit or more importantly related to DRIVETRIBE that the Vauxhall Vectra is a good car!
So instead of starting off my tribe with a long and boring introduction into me, my life and any sob stories, like on X-Factor. I decided would start off with doing what I do best annoying people and believing I’m right when in completely and utterly not.
In my opinion the Vauxhall Vectra IS a good car. However, I will fully admit that the MK1 Vectra is one of the most bland and boring cars that money can buy ever, and the styling on the MK2 Vectra ‘isn’t quite there’ let’s say. On the other side however the MK3 Vectra (2006-2009), I believe IS a good-looking car that is good value for money. The most expensive Vectra on AutoTrader that wasn’t a VXR or Sports Edition was under £4,500 (link to it at the bottom of the article). These days you can pick up a high spec Vauxhall Vectra quite cheaply with options such as Sat Nav, Cruise Control, and heated leather seats. The cheapest Vectra I could find with Sat Nav and Cruise control and loads of other options was £990. Which is an absolute bargain.
Over the years that car has got a lot of stick and abuse, it was once described by Jeremy Clarkson as “a car designed in a coffee break by people who couldn’t care less about cars”, that he “would rather have triple Pneumonia then have a Vauxhall Vectra”- some irony there. The Vectra is a family Saloon/Estate car so is not designed to be a car that will set your pants on fire, have Lamborghini style looks that will give Petrol Heads a funny feeling in their trousers and do a ridiculous 0-60 time that will leave Zonda’s and McLaren’s at the traffic lights.
If you want a cheap large car with lots of extra’s that is at least £1,000 cheaper than its rivals and you don’t care about top speed, extravagant looks or 0-60 time then look no further than the trusty Vauxhall Vectra.
Feel free to tell me your opinion in the comments and give me as much abuse as you think that I deserve.

Green one was my baby for 19 years started life as a standard base model but ended up with a 2.0 turbo from a calibra and as you see some serious body and suspension changes. Red one was a Cdti remapped to 200bhp running insignia vxr alloys. Lovely car to cruise along and sat on the autobahn at 155mph with no issue. Under rated and people told to hate them. All I'd say is there are some great ones out there to be had
I totally agree. A Vectra’s are quite fast. A friend of mines Vectra will sit quite happily at 100mph even full of kids and luggage
I agree it is. I've had both Vectra B and Vectra C and loved both granted neither were standard. I've attached a couple of pics. Always got a lot of positive comments
