The Volkswagen CC lives again: new Arteon previewed
Volkswagen's latest fastback is almost here. Check out these first official preview shots...
Remember the Volkswagen CC, the coupe-like version of the Passat? Well, its successor is just around the corner – and it's set to be unveiled in full at the 2017 Geneva motor show.
Volkswagen's also just released two preview snaps of the CC's replacement, which is called the 'Arteon'. Few details have been revealed but the new Arteon is claimed to be a spacious saloon with driver assistance systems typically found in more upmarket cars.
The Arteon, which will sit above the Passat in VW's range, will feature LED headlights and daytime running lights.
If you're wondering what Arteon stands for, wonder no more: Volkswagen says that the 'Art' component describes 'the saloon's harmonious lines and emotionality', while the 'eon' is Volkswagen's most recent premium identifier. You'll see 'eon', for example, on the end of Phideon – VW's top-end model in the Chinese market.
The new four-door Arteon, which is designed to take on the likes of the BMW 4-series Gran Coupe, will be revealed in full at the 2017 Geneva motor show.

As a CC owner these are a fantastic car.
How long have you owned it for, Peter? Serving you well?
I bought it new in 2010 and have driven it 150,000 km without any issues. Tested a Mercedes C Class and a BMW 3 Series and found the CC was better in every way except badge snobbery. Better performance, better handling, better comfort, more...

Nice, but the name is cringeworthy.
Looks clean. Hope it has a slick stick.
It's brilliant
