The world's first wooden supercar: Splinter

It's made of 20 different species of wood!

Have you ever seen a fullly wooden car before? Well, today is your lucky day as this man has built one and it looks incredibly convincing.

Walnut, cherry, maple, birch; these are not names of ice cream flavours but in fact, some of the different woods used to make the Splinter. This is a supecar made exclusively of wood and it's very impressive.

When I say it's completely made of wood, I mean it. From the wheels, to the chassic to the interior, it's all wooden. But what's most impressive is the gearstick which can only be described as being a baseballl bat on its side.

This car took a total of nine years to build, as wood isn't all that easy to work with but I think it's pretty safe to say, it's paid off. It is powered bya 7.0L small-block V8 which produces around 650hp and is mated to a six-speed gearbox.

In adddition to this, the car has airbag suspension all around to adjust the height and it's all recyclable!

What do you think of this?

    • This must be what my woodwork teacher had in mind when I was making my car in school.

That also adds up to why his faced expressed such horror at the result.
