The world's most iconic hot rod is for sale!

This is the hot rod that started them all!

I should make a disclaimer. I don't really 'get' hot rods. Sure, they have a big engine and some of them look cool, but they seem a bit childish, and it definitely isn't my cup of tea.

But I know I good one when I see one, and this is a very good one! The one that started it all...

The Ford Model A. Twice the power of the Model T - which I am sure you all know was the first mass produced car - and was an upgrade of the original car which had been on sale for 18 years. This Roadster variant was bought by Tom McCullen who tore out the stock Ford V8 and added a Chevy one in, combined with a GMC Supercharger.

The iconic flame paintwork was done by Ed "Big Daddy" Roth. It created a new breed of car. The hot rod. In 1964 McCullen got it up to 167mph in the Deuce speed trials, which, in the era of the Lamborghini Miura, was pretty speedy!

This car was sold for just £5,000 a few years later, but now it is going for sale at Meceum Auctions with a reserve of £1 million. Would you pay that, for the original hot rod?
