WRC 10 is now available to buy on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and Series X. Yes, we have another annual installment of the official rally game that, based on first impressions, is the best yet.

WRC 10 is not hugely different from WRC 9 on the surface, especially as the visuals remain the same. However, you do get a new Anniversary Mode that lets you relive classic rally moments from the last 50 years of the FIA championship.

That means thrashing about the Alpine A110 at the new Greek Acropolis rally and trying to not finish upside down in the Audi Quattro Sport on icy roads. You can even drive the famous Italian Sanremo rally.

WRC 10 also uses better-recorded engine noises, which is a big plus, but the star of the show comes in the form of handling improvements. Aerodynamics, braking, suspension and front-end grip are all more realistic, helping connect you to the car.

Having been playing a pre-release version of WRC 10 on PC and Xbox Series X, I can tell you that the rally cars feel twitchier at the front than before (particularly on controller), but once used to it you can slice through bends like a pro.

Make no mistake, WRC 10's mix of perilously tight road and town sections, and high-speed open sprints gives you what I think is the most satisfying rally experience available. The tarmac and gravel physics alone eclipse Dirt Rally 2.0.

Also new to WRC 10 is a new livery editor and you can make your own team. The career mode has also been given some spit and polish, but feels largely familiar to WRC 9. Meanwhile the amusing co-driver mode makes a return, plus there is split-screen (offline) multiplayer.

As with all recent WRC titles, new content will be added throughout the year and it will not cost you extra. This includes new rally cars, new 50th birthday events and eventually a new online championship mode.

Expect a full review on A Tribe Called Cars once I have got further in the game, plus I will be doing a tips and tricks guide to help newer drivers out.

  • Man, good thing I held out on WRC9. This is shaping up to be pretty much the definitive version of Nacon/KT Games' title, which is good because last I heard, the WRC license is coming to Codemasters.
