The yard with it all

A short tale but plenty of photos of old cars seemingly lost in the middle of nowhere

It's a sad fact, we stumble on these places at the strangest of times, I was out one day getting some stereo gear (I'm a boombox fan), when in the middle of nowhere in a small forest, I spotted a load of cars, so I turn around, jump out camera in hand and this is what I found.

now its not often I revisit these places but after my first visit back in 2010, I decided to return a year later in slightly better weather to see what was happening, as you always miss something, I had since learned that the site was "owned by a local car dealer who used it for extra storage but had since died" (however we never know if that is true until we find someone actually closer to the source) but yes some cars had been shunted around, others had gone. I personally think the site was in fact a garage itself and maybe the owner retired as most of the cars certainly have been there for many years seemingly untouched.

I took my pictures and then left, a bit sad seeing how the cars had further degraded, its however been a few years since my last visit, now I have proper camera maybe I'll return one day to see how nature has reclaimed the rest.

  • I must admit to not knowing the Citroen U55 existed at all. That would be so confusing to people to import to America.

    • i think alot of these cars themselves would be exceptionally hard to find in the usa

    • Yes indeed. Technically a nonzero number of Citroens were sold in the US but in much smaller quantities compared to Peugeots and Renaults. And of those, I've found a few USDM examples from a 4CV to a 404. And nary a one of them was anything short...
