The Yas Marina circuit will remain on the Formula 1 calendar until 2031
The agreement with the FIA was reached just before the last race of the 2021 season
First opened in 2009 after two years of construction, the Yas Marina circuit in the United Arab Emirates has hosted the last grand prix of the Formula 1 championship for many years. 5.2 km long and capable of hosting up to 60,000 spectators, the racetrack was the scene of important sporting achievements such as Sebastian Vettel's first title in 2010 or Nico Rosberg in 2016.
In a few days it will also be the stage where Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton will perform to determine who will be the world champion for the 2021 season and striking twists are not excluded. Although it has never been particularly appreciated by either the drivers or the public, the track has remained on the championship calendar until now and the news came today that its stay will continue.
The FIA and Aldar Properties, an important construction company and owner of the circuit, have made official that the race will take place until 2030 and that investments will be made to improve the circuit and make the races more exciting. Although this Sunday the show will probably be ensured by the two title contenders who will surely engage in an epic battle to prevail.
