There’s no such thing as “accidents"
The word accident is an excuse, there are only mistakes
Accidents don’t happen, the whole concept of the accident is a fallacy. Accident is an excuse, a means of diverting attention away from the fact that someone made a mistake. We humans hide behind the term just so we don’t have to face embarrassment or humiliation. Fact of the matter is, there are no accidents. There is only not paying attention, doing what you shouldn’t be doing, inexperience, showing off, etc. They are mistakes and we humans make a lot of them, its how we learn and learning, is not an accident.
Every "accident" can be traced back to mistakes that were made. I crashed my motorcycle as a result of inexperience. There was nothing other than my lack of ability that landed me in the hospital. I was impatient. I thought I knew enough to handle it, I took to the road and almost killed myself. To say I had an accident would imply some higher power interfered with my life, but such was not the case. I didn’t have the experience needed, and I crashed. It wasn’t an accident, it was a bad decision compounded by inexperience.
Humans need to own up to their actions and using words like accident gives us a cop out; a reason to hide from our mistakes. It suggests that we were in no way responsible for our actions and not taking responsibility for our actions doesn’t make the world a better place. Saying it was an accident suggests that fault or blame can be shifted away from the person who made the mistake. There is no need for finger pointing or blaming. Mistakes need to be made in order for us to learn and shifting the blame takes away from opportunity to learn. We sometimes need a hard lesson in order to learn.
Some may argue that accidents do in fact happen. Let’s say my tire fell off and I crashed into something. If I was not the person who put the tire on then I would not necessarily be responsible, but still it’s no accident. A tire falling off is the result of someone else not paying attention; someone didn’t do their job correctly, a tire fell off and a crash occurred. It’s not by accident, it’s by ignorance; mistake.
You don’t accidentally hit the throttle instead of the brake, (a bullshit excuse I’ve heard before) this doesn’t happen. You might panic and not pay attention to where your foot is, but you don’t accidentally hit the gas. There is no accident, in this case it’s just not paying attention.
When I was working at a dealership someone “accidentally” broke a window when they spun the tires and spit up a rock. No, I’m sorry but that isn’t accident. That’s screwing around; doing something you’re not supposed to be doing and breaking something.
Accidents don’t happen. Stupidity happens, ignorance happens, not paying attention happens, inexperience happens. Mistakes happen and we as humans need to accept this if we want our species to grow. To say accident is to pass the buck. Just face it, if you mess up then you messed up. Live, learn and move on. I didn’t have a bike accident, I was inexperienced and shouldn’t have had my bike on the highway. Saying my crash was an accident is just an excuse, it implies that somehow I was not at fault. It was my fault, and I’m not ashamed. I feel a little dumb, but I lived and I learned my lesson. I made a choice and it was a mistake. I learn from my mistakes and hopefully someone else can learn from my mistake as well.
Humans make mistakes to learn and we need to accept those mistakes, not run and hide from them. Saying it was an accident is running away from the mistake. It may be more comforting to say it, but it does not leave room to learn. Mistakes happen, accidents do not.

... shit happens ... the sign for incompetence is not knowing about being incompetent, therefore not an accident but one of the above. >>> www.facebook.com/dtrlounge/
