There's something unnatural about the Regera's record run
Last month, Koenigsegg proved through a heavily edited video that they could beat their own record of going from 0-400 and back to 0 again. The car in question was the Regera and it set an incredible time of 31.49 seconds though the editing of the video made the record seem slightly questionable.
What did Koenigsegg do? Well, they released a new video proving that the Regera completed the record in ONE take! That's just incredible and what is even more freaky is that the Regera never changed a gear. We've already known for a while that the Regera doesn't have a traditional gearbox but instead does the job with a single gear 2.73:1 final drive. The twin turbo 5.0L V8 and the three electric motors produce a sensational 1,479bhp and a an earth shattering 1,465 pound foot of torque which is all sent to the wheels through that single gear.
Having watched my fair share of car videos, there is one thing that is extremely eerie about the video. Despite accelerating all the way to 400kph and then coming back to 0 again, the Regera never changes gear and while one is not expecting it to do so, it just sounds extremely unnerving in actual life.
